Gisela®3 USPP 16,173 The newest Gisela® rootstock that produces a tree 35 to 40% the size of Mazzard in the East and somewhat larger in the West. A good stock for high density plantings and high tunnels. GI®3 has flat branch angles and does not sucker. Very productive and precocious; support is recommended.
Gisela®5 USPP 9622 The most widely planted dwarfing cherry rootstock in Europe and a natural for high density and u-pick. GI®5 produces a tree 45 to 50% the size of Mazzard in the East and 65% the size of Mazzard in the West. Exhibits very little suckering and has very good virus tolerance. GI®5 is adaptable to all soils and does well in heavy soils. Support is recommended.
Gisela®6 USPP 8954 A heavy bearing workhorse, producing a tree that is 65% the size of Mazzard in the East and 90 to 95% the size of Mazzard in the West. Good bacterial canker resistance and very good virus tolerance. GI®6 requires support for its heavy crop loads and is adaptable to all soil types.
Gisela®12 USPP 9631 GI®12 produces an open, spreading, stocky tree with wide soil adaptability. This stock is very precocious and productive with good virus resistance and no suckering. A very well anchored stock, GI®12 may not require support in all situations.
